As I was packing for the famous Milford Track I was very close to not bringing my camera along. The trek is a four day tramp, so any weight that was not essential I was dropping. At the last moment, I decided that i’d probably kick myself if I didn’t lug my DSLR along the way, and I was right.
The Milford is overwhelmingly beautiful, which is hard to translate through the lens. I’ve always been partial to capturing the small, intricate details of that beauty, and in the photos below i’ve tried to pair photos that show the huge scale and grandeur of the Fiordland, with photos of the details. Beauty is found in both, and it is in the combination that the true magic of the world around us is revealed.
